privlikatynaya @ 12:14 am: she flies like a bird in the sky...

I was just browsing through google images for birds and I came upon this. I absolutely love it. I wish I had taken that picture. It feels so perfect.

Ever since hearing the song "I Can't Let Maggie Go" by the under-acclaimed 60's Britpop band Honeybus, I've been drawn to the image of a bird in flight. Download it if you get the chance. It's very beautiful.

Stretching in the morning. Just as you're waking up. Such a good feeling.

I must be one special girl because I saw two beautiful things today. The first beautiful thing happened at the cinema. I and the others were sitting and watching the previews when the film reel went flicky. It did this for a while, and then it just stopped and was replaced by a warping of the image from the middle to the edges until it all just melted away. The colours were translucent reds and golds and yellows, with black drips that ate away the picture. Everybody laughed but I felt quite content watching the whole thing; I wish it'd been part of the actual film.
The second beautiful thing occurred right after the movie. I stepped out of the theatre and into the bright gold light of the late afternoon sun, and pouring out of that clear summer sky was a rainfall so sparkling white that it blinded my sensitive eyes as I walked across the slick shiny parking lot to my car. It was fantastic. I love the rain, whether it's falling from a dark stormy grey sky or a bright sunny one. I love its muffled pitter-patter on my window panes at night while I'm lying in bed.
Thank God for the rain... maybe it'll wash that scum away.

privlikatynaya @ 11:31 am: OoOoh, the colours!
Punch-Drunk Love left me feeling fantastically wonderful and happy. It was some mixture of the chemistry between Adam Sandler's shy, awkward character and Emily Watson's patient, loving role, how they ended up together in the end... and the subtly beautiful and mellow art direction... the colours! I believe Jon Brion did some music in it too. AND THAT 'HE NEEDS ME' SONG THAT SHELLEY DUVALL SINGS IN POPEYE IS IN THERE TOO!!!!!!!! See? This movie is just bursting at the seams with happiness and enlightenment. Go watch it sometime.

filmsacramento @ 01:14 pm: Do you hear that sound? Do you dig that sound? It's the troubadours, coming through town ...
In Van Morrison, we see the tradition of the troubadours resurrected in the modern age with the full light of the mystic tradition undiminished and in fact renewed. The Seeker of his own wellspring. The Finder of a tradition as old as humans. The Healer of hearts.

Van Morrison's music fills up my soul as if I were staring at the ocean.

brentz @ 04:48 am: I woke up this morning, the sun was upon me.
Days like these were made for wearing headphones.
The song in my head makes me feel that much better.
Crowds can be cool every once in a while now.

When I realised the lyrics to this song, it made me smile.
One of my favourite things to do is walk through crowded areas, on sunny days, listening to headphones.

privlikatynaya @ 11:06 pm: Food.
O, the beauty of the kitchen!
For throw back the doors,
And a cloud of divine pleasure whisks you to Heaven.
Even the beautiful Aphrodite crumbles
Before the curves of a lemon meringue pie.
And O, could the nymphs,
How they could learn from foreplay of the ingredients.
From the boiling water,
Whose bubbles nuzzle like dolphins.
Or the steaming of milk,
When its volume swells like a nest of rabbits.
Nothing in all the world comes close
To the beauty of chocolate cake.
With that deep brown frosting
And the ever-moist layers beneath...
O, for now they say I came to death,
By chocolate.

All that is on my lj profile. But the poem is actually not mine. I got it from some school literary magazine back in high school. It was written by a girl who I basically didn't like, but I liked the poem lots so I guess she redeemed herself. The photo is mine. That's actually the remains of what was a full bowl of dark chocolate ice cream. Mmmmmm.

That's how she makes me feel ...
